Does anyone know if there has been any progress here with Polaris? I just ordered a 2021 General XP 4 1000 Deluxe with Ride Command recently. I wasn't aware of the issues with the design issues until today when I was researching other items in this forum. I would hope that the 2021s currently being manufactured are being done so with a "fix" for the issues.
There isn't a true fix for it but they have updated the software on the ride command to make it sound better. I don't think there will ever be a fix to give you proper fade controls and that sort of stuff. However I am pretty happy with the sound quality since the latest update was done. No doubt you could make a way better system with aftermarket parts, but I already have this setup and it does fit good in there.

My suggestion is to find a dealer that has one in stock, make sure it is on the latest update and take a listen. Decide for yourself if its good enough for what you want to use it for. Everyone has a different tolerance for what is loud or sounds good. I can't handle how loud some of my buddies listen to music in there rigs haha.

Thanks for the info! I’m honestly ok if it doesn’t fade properly. I want a decently loud system to listen when riding or when hanging out while not inside the unit. If they have improved, it is good to know. I really like the Ride Command system with the built in GPS, Bluetooth, diagnostics, etc. I like factory integration. I hope it sounds good!

I spent 2 days talking with Polaris and Rockford Fosgate. I ended up taking my new General back to the dealership and explained all my research. They agreed it’s BS and gave me back my deposit, cancelled my financing and I returned the Polaris. The amp is a Polaris amp installed in a Rockford Fosgate housing. Polaris Engineers asked Rockford F to hook it up just as described in the previous posts.
The issues are no Fade control, degraded amp output to speakers, not enough volume, and speakers make a pop sound after you turn the key off.

Polaris should be selling this as only a Rockford Fosgate Speaker system and not as a complete stage 4 system.
I do believe there are grounds for a class action lawsuit and someone should start gathering names and contact info for a case. You should also file a complaint with your state attorney general for Polaris being deceptive. You could also use the Lemon Law Act to fight your case and Polaris would have 4 attempts to correct the issue. If they can’t, then you should be able to return your unit.

It’s not the dealerships fault. The 3 dealerships I spoke with had no idea this was going on. If you are near a RideNow dealership and that is where you bought your Polaris, you should go speak with the General Manager. I made a video with my dealership GM and he is sending it to Polaris. All the dealership GM’s need to band together and help fight for their customers affected by this issue. Even the 2021’s are having the same problem. It’s also a issue with Ride Command installed on the RZR with RF Stage 4. Polaris is either going to have to fix this problem or the dealerships are going to have to disclose the issue. If anything, Polaris should be refunding the customers with the $2000 upgrade of the Ride Command with Stage 4 upgrade. At least it would allow you to install your own stereo and navigation unit.
atjarrad@gmail.com 21 general xp 4 rf stage 4. Same fade issue and weak sub. $2000 tip off

I also happen to be an attorney. I do not do class action lawsuits. They are typically done in federal court and quite frankly, I don't think consumers ever end up with much and lawyers typically get rich. I'm not saying its always the case. My advice to anyone who is having issues is to contact a local attorney and have them sue Polaris directly in small claims court in your home county of your home state. Most if not all 50 states have jurisdictional limits over $2,000 so you could file a small claims suit and likely have it heard within a couple of months by a local judge. Polaris will be forced to hire attorneys to combat these suits that are filed all over the country. That may get their attention. If you get the situation explained correctly to your attorney so that she or he can present the case in small claims, you will almost certainly win after what I have read today in this forum. Polaris will be paying out refunds for Ride Command Systems left and right until they make what appears to be a simple change. I guarantee you if my unit comes with this defect, I am going to sue them in small claims court and get a judgement against them. I will go through proper channels and once I get no response, I will likely have a judgement within a couple of months of filing. Hopefully, they have the problem fixed by the time they make my General though as my family and I have been very excited about ordering it despite being concerned about Polaris reliability.
I was thinking the same thing! I wish I would’ve seen these before I ordered mine. I’m within maybe 3 to 4 days of getting mine and I’ve been waiting almost 4 1/2 months I’m hoping that they figured it out that’s why it took so long!

So I reached out to Rockford Fosgate and they told me that Polaris has a modified system not the actual stage 4 system. Polaris will also not release the pinouts yet to Rockford to provide a solution. Also it is a 4 channel amp not a 5 channel amp for the system which would be required. So you are running for speakers on two channels and the sub is being bridged on the other two channels.

Obviously the system is being pushed harder than it should with a smaller amp however if you want to Fork out the money I know that it can be bypassed or corrected however I don't think after throwing $30,000 at a brand new unit should you have to get additional work done to it just to make it work correctly.

I believe the brand new 5 channel amp from Rockford Fosgate runs somewhere in the range of about seven or eight hundred dollars and you can get it installed and it should fix the issues but once again why should we have to go through all the trouble when we just bought this unit that states it is a Rockford Fosgate stage 4 system for the Polaris General.

I made my dealer aware of the situation but they do not have any plans of compensation or giving a chance to get it fixed. I read another post from another member that said he got his money back and return the whole unit , I would really not want to do that just for the radio.

It's a very frustrating situation and I'm sure it will be rectified however the time frame it's not established yet. As always if anybody else has any information and would like to share it it would be greatly appreciated other than that you guys have an awesome day.

I agree that when you pay nearly $30,000 for a UTV and $2,000 of that cost is tied up in a stereo system heavily promoted by Polaris, then it should be a good system.

I want Ride Command. I think the features it provides are pretty sweet. I have no problem paying the money for it, but like you said, you shouldn’t have to go to RF to and investigate ways to make it work. And you certainly shouldn’t have to pay more money to get the correct Amp.

Its obvious Polaris knows about this issue and is choosing not to address it at this time. That is a mistake. As I said, I want Ride Command so I will spend money to make it work right but Polaris better come up with a fix. That is their duty to the customer. In my opinion, this substantially impairs the use and enjoyment of the vehicle for those who order the Ride Command system.

Let us know if you get anymore info on a “workaround” from RF. The main thing I am concerned with is fitment and compatibility with Ride Command. That particular system is made so everything mounts flush. I am not sure if a different Amp would mount in the space? There are also special connections for Ride Command.

So I bought a kit that is supposed to enhance the sub not sure exactly what it is but I’m wondering if it would fix it because I have to snip four speaker wires and connect to this thing would I be able to screenshot it and upload it on here

Yes the ride command option is a very good feature I enjoy using it and for that I am pushing aside the fact that the system does not work currently. However yes the system has special connectors because everything runs completely out of the ride command unit and that's what I was talking about when I said about pinouts and Polaris not giving the connectors to Rockford Fosgate yet.

The amplifier would not be an issue in that space according to Rockford Fosgate as they do sell that amp and system on their website but if you look at their package it is around $3,500 for the complete kit specifically for the Polaris General.

They did do a system update I believe in August my unit was not updated so I had to update it at home and followed the Polaris website instructions. It definitely does sound better and they have new features on there such as v2v messaging which is pretty cool and the sound is definitely a little bit better. However when you are looking at a Rockford Fosgate stage 4 system it is definitely not the sound that you would get if you were to purchase it directly through Rockford Fosgate.

I plan on being in contact with Rockford Fosgate as I live in Arizona and they are located in Tempe. Of course I will share information with the group as soon as I get any further information.

That all sounds great. It makes some sense that the system wouldn’t work correctly if RF is charging $3,500 while Polaris is charging $2,000. However, Polaris could likely charge $300 more for the Ride Command system, promote it as being better audio quality(when in reality it is just what should be installed in the first place) and people would pay it. Given the vendor discounts I imagine they would be able to keep their profit margin the same and save money by not needing to issue service bulletins. I know I would have paid extra. It doesn’t make sense.

So far everything is fine everything works on the road command fade ,balance and all the other adjustments like bass ,treble ,mid on my 2021! But I am going to put the line driver in waiting on a power cord. I’ve got to work this weekend so it’s going to be a minute before I get to it. I work 12s i’ll try to post a video of what I got now.
