KC...Maybe proactively fill the form out above from Polaris and take it to your dealer....or call Polaris..... Maybe it's not the pro-shaft as the problem.

General,

Would sure appreciate it if you could post a couple of pics of the new driveshafts...especially the CV Joints.

Still have a carrier bearing tho? Same mounting as the original?

Thanks much,

Pirate

I appreciate it but I've been dealing with this since the day I bought this POS. My Polaris rep says he has no idea what that form is and today informed me that my scumbag dealer says they installed shims which is also a complete fabrication. They installed nothing but told Polaris my issue was resolved. Look, I need help here. If you're not willing to help all of us then I'm not sure what else to say. You want my case number? Call Mitch at Polaris parts and reference my case that I will provide you via PM.

Talked to my dealer today and explaind what I read on here. They called me back at the end of the day and said they got the approval for new front and rear shaft. I asked if it was the new cv joint and they said they had not run the part numbers they gave them yet but will look them up tomorrow.

Please keep us updated on what they put on and if it fixed your noise!

Save your photo onto your desk top and drag and drop your photo...That has been the easiest method for myself getting photos added...Hope this helps..

Interesting, I just spend two weeks riding with a friend that works at Ridenow in Apache Junction, AZ and he tells me the 2018 Generals are not coming with CV front driveshafts.

Wonder if this is a mid-year change.

General Iowa, can you post a couple of pics of the new shafts? Say at the front diff and the trans output shaft?

Thanks,

Pirate
Pirate. I posted pictures of the new shaft, shocks, etc. at this thread. If you would have caught me earlier, I could have taken more pictures for you at the MN State Fair where it was displayed.

Thanks for the pics Outdoor Lover!!

These new shafts and the CV joints are just about twins for the CCI Driveline shafts I installed in December.

Yup they are the fix. Mine are very quiet, no vibration, go greasing...just great!!

Wonder if we're all going to get a set? I still have my OEM driveshafts I can exchange for a set of these as spares.

Hmmm...wonder if Polaris will have "kits" to replace a CV joint boot if one gets damaged. Just like axles...it does happen!!

Thanks again,

Pirate

Just got back with my G4 from my dealer (who is top notch btw). Filled out the form from Polaris that I shared in this thread. My dealer was able to get a new 2018 propshaft, etc... authorized from Polaris. Had it installed today and Voila...no more rattling. Problem solved.

I asked my dealer why so many people are having issues with Polaris covering them and he just said it was persistence from the dealer's end as Polaris doesn't make it easy. He did note however, if the dealer suspects that you have caused damage somehow to induce or exacerbate the problem, Polaris tends not to fix them.

Finally, he did note that he has customers that have been persistence for 2 years (when warranty expired) and Polaris finally repaired their issue. He shared to just stay persistent if you know it is a Polaris defect and not something you did. Hope that helps....

Props to Sport Cycle in Rockingham NC. Classy bunch of fellas....Thanks Jeff, Chris, Keith & Pat

Shaft

I bought a 2017. I found one that has cv joints on the front and rear diffs. I took the front cover off and discovered the front driveshaft has a u joint where it connects into the bearing. Is this normal?
My dealer got approval to change out the diff back in May and I would say that 75% of the noise was gone and at that time I also had the shafts phased and balanced. Be fore they changed out the diff they told me that only 1 out of every 4 diff's are good so don't hold my breath. In Sept. I asked them if by chance Polaris would also approve to have the drive shafts replaced with the new 2018 shafts in 3 days they got approval. I just it back today and great news I can now hear the radio.
