I have seen 1 set in person on a 2016. The 2016 and 17 machines were plagued with door separation issues. The doors would spread apart. They finally did a recall of sorts and offered the owners of 16&17 the updated doors. They replaced the inner door skin and the new inner has push pins along the top of the door. So in 2018 they redesigned the doors. I'm guessing these didn't sell well enough to redesign them to work on the new doors. They were also quite heavy and probably added to the door separation issues. Very rarely you'll see a set for sale somewhere. I have never heard or read of anyone retrofitting them to an 18 or newer General. That's what I remember from my research. I know the guy that has a set, he's a customer of ours. I'm not friendly enough with him to ask if I can dismantle and look at his door uppers though.

 

Mines a 2016 but has the "fix" for the doors with push pins along the top edge. I see no reason why someone couldn't make something similar from lightweight plastic and with acrylic windows that would be about the weight of the metal framed/canvas covered options. The only mod I see would be to add vents of some kind. With the proliferation of generals I have to believe they would sell well.

These OEM composite doors were very heavy causing issues with the light duty OEM doors. The owners I've talked to about these doors didn't like the lessened visibility with the smaller windows, bulky framing, and difficult mounting. These were apparently plagued with issues in the manufacture as well.

That being said, we are just getting into the beginning of production phase on our OG SideskinLITEs... These are an engineered structural steel frame with polycarbonate window panels and a lower accessory panel for items like vents.

I'm not interested in these uppers as I've already got polaris uppers over a year ago. But asking for the guys that have been told the same line for a while....

Yeah, well I've been waiting for several months, cold weather months here in the Rocky Mountains, for you to come out with your product. It's really hard to either suffer with ice cold conditions or to just avoid trips altogether because it's too **** difficult to ride in an ice box. Please ASAP!

 

I personally would rather have a company take the extra time, and build something right, instead of rushing something out just so it can be on the market. When consumers expect something to be designed and in production within a few months, they better be expecting crappy results 😉

 

Matt, THANK YOU for the information it really helps to know what is happening and why as well a s clarity on the timeline! It sounds like you are going to have a great product and that is exactly what I want and need. The frustration has been not being able to pull the trigger on alternatives and get back to riding in the cold.

A few weeks ago I saw a guy selling some OEM uppers on FB Marketplace for about $400. Located in Polson, MT. We chatted a bit and he has everything they came with, plugs etc.
I had plans to pick them up but didn't because my work schedule changed drastically.

After doing some more reading on the OG lites I liked that design much better than softies so I pre-ordered.

I'm sure those door uppers are still for sale if you're interested but I'll be sure to update when I get and install the OG's.

As much as I need to enclose the cab so I can ride (got to 3 degrees today), I want the best option and if we are to believe the guys at Only Generals, that would be their product. Just wish they would hurry...............

 

We are hurrying. Wrapping up final details on the components that make up the frames and mounts. Then we start cutting parts to fulfill preorders.

 

Any chance of seeing pics? I want to buy a pair but am very weary unless I can see wat I'm getting. I know you're concerned about copycats, but I patented my own designs of tools it was easy and cheap to do and gave me piece of mind.

We are not a paid vendor yet, looking through the requirements. So to play fair we haven't been posting much about our stuff, or any pictures on here. We have been posting some stuff on FB.

Looking at your web site. You do have some nice product. The bed extender. I have the Polaris one, it is functional but has short comings. Just the fact that it doesn't fold up, makes it hard to store for travel if your tight on space/length.

A suggestion, a lot of owners have a lot of Polaris accessories. They are model specific, fit well, function well for the most part and are CHEAP . Ok back to the bed extender, Please consider the Polaris storage box in the design. I have both Polaris bed exdender and storage box. Would consider yours if it will work with the box as I'm sure other would also given the short coming of the P brand.

@Matthew Kerbid , I went to your website. I can't look at anything you have coming down the pike. Bed extender, more info button is greyed out. The pack out system, more info button greyed out. I don't use Facebook, and a lot of others here don't either. I personally would like to see what @muzhunter is taking about, but unfortunately your website doesn't show anything.

 

We ended up closing the information on upcoming products due to some copycat stuff going on. Due to being a small team and focusing heavily on the LITE upper door preorders, we didn't want concept and detail information sitting there for competition to browse at their leisure. But don't worry, we have a lot of cool stuff planned for this year and we will release more information on our website as we get further into the development process on those products. As well, we will update our website as there is new content to add.

I think for only launching 8 months ago, we've done pretty well to go through R&D on 5 products and get 4 of them to full blown retail with nothing but satisfied customers.

We did add a new upper door picture to the mix after test running our jigs.
