So is it me, or is Polaris just clueless?

I've been getting suggestions about batteries and battery chargers for my 2020 General XP. I know there are many chargers that will work with multiple battery types. But I noticed on page 111 in my owner's manual that Polaris recommends the BatteryMINDer 2012 AGM - 2 Amp (PN2830438), that is specially tuned for AGM batteries. I like that the BatteryMINDers specifically state that they help with desulfating your battery, where other brands may say nothing about desulfating. Anyway, I looked up the OEM battery that supposedly shipped with my General. This is what I found:

Genuine Polaris OEM Parts
BATTERY-575 CCA,FLOODED,SVC
4014132-P
Polaris

Can a "flooded, SVC" battery be an AGM style? I thought flooded and AGM were two different battery designs. Is Polaris really recommending an AGM specific charger when they don't even provide you with an AGM battery? I hope I'm wrong, but that sounds pretty clueless.

That charger should work on flooded batteries just as well as AGM. It's a "smart" charger and won't overcharge. Keep in mind, Polaris is also Indian. Motorcycles come with AGM batteries and probably the 4 wheelers too. They picked a charger that they can sell for all their machines.

The flooded batteries that come with the machines aren't the best quality, a maintainer is important.

Mine will be replaced with an Odyssey when the time comes.

Have used BatteryMinder chargers for many years. Most of mine are model 1510.
I too like that is desulfates the batteries.
We use it for all our batteries in the toys and the vehicles.

I use noco genius products for all my battery maintaining needs, they have something for every application. They are very smart and I have been able to bring batteries back to service that I thought were long gone. They also have a lot of adapters and pigtails so you can just leave one connected to the vehicle and connect up whenever you want. Generally speaking, most maintainers that support AGM also support flooded batteries. Lithium is a different scenario though, usually those require one that can handle the different type of chemistry.

Give noco a look:

Oh ****, I use Battery Tender chargers on everything. Must have ten of them in the Toybarn somewhere. They work great on the Optima battery in the Skidsteer and the Excavator. One is connected to the Miller Trailblazer welder/generator. I'm clueless where the battery is. One for the batteries both Oddessy batteries in the enclosed trailer, the Mobile Garage. Two for the General. One in the Toybarn one in the Mobile Garage. Its an Oddessy battery. One in the Hydraulic dump trailer, it's an Optima. And several more in boxes from the days of two Harleys.
But they work on everything I've got or had. No complaints.

Thanks all. I still suspect Polaris is sometimes clueless. Another example is my service manual which clearly says I should grease the front and back stabilizer bar bushings on each side. There are two in the rear, but definitely none in the front.

I've searched high and low and talked with others. My 2020 XP 4 seater has two zerks on the stabilizer bars in the back and three zerks on the drive shafts. But there are none on the front stabilizer bars, despite what the manual states.
