Hard starting

So my 2019 General is getting harder and harder to start when cold. I tried chemicals like HEET and other types of additives to clean injectors. It didn't help.
Its gotten bad enough that now I when I start it when cold I have to keep my foot on the pedal to do a high idle until it has some engine temp and then it will idle normally.
It should be noted, there is 10k miles on this General.

I've done all the maintenance on the motor as detailed by the manual, I did plugs last year and all the fluids every 100 hours.
I have never checked the valves though. I watched Youtube's on that and it looks beyond my capability to adjust the valves.

This morning, it lit an engine light. The orange engine symbol on the instrument panel came up and flashed at me for a bit, then went solid.
After it idled though, the engine symbol went away.
Is there a place to plug in a code reader on these? (Is it the same plug as the ones on normal passenger cars)?

Thanks for any information!

Mike

OK! We have something to work with! There are two courses of action you can take to resolve this. My recommendation is to remove the left rear hub/rotor/bearing carrier. Then remove the axle. Inspect and clean the axle and transmission splines, check the circ clip on the axle. Drain and Inspect the transmission fluid. Reassemble everything, refill with fresh lube. And go for a ride.
Very strange the number of members having an axle pop out of either the front diff or the transmission.
I have to wonder if the axle itself is shorter than past years. Or the CV-Joint design has changed some? Perhaps the spring steel wire clip that is to keep the axle secure in the transmission is not quite large enough in diameter?

Perhaps someone can add something more, but it's seems this axle popping out started with the last couple years of manufacture?

OK, my jack failed so I just ordered a new one.
In the mean time, I need to watch Youtube's to figure out how to do what Pirate lists above. I also gotta figure out why my pics won't upload so y'all can see.
I also need to know torque specs for when I reassemble. I don't want anything coming apart again.

So its just one spring clip that holds that all in there?

Should probably try to move these questions to your other post so the OP's post quits getting hijacked...

Not trying to start anything, but just trying to be respectful to the OP...

To answer your question,

IMO no you don't need to pull all that apart. It came out with it assembled the way it is. It should (hopefully) go back without disassembly....

If it goes back together, then no torque specs needed....

I could agree to change rear diff fluid, who knows what mightve gotten in there without the axle in there...

Isn't the rear transaxle sealed? Like all previous Polaris? Every time I've pulled an axle out the splines were separate from any gear lube etc. I also can't believe the circlips are intended to actually keep the axle inserted. There's no way that if there was any outward stress on the axle that the circlip would ever hold it. Correct me if I'm wrong but i would think the distance between the carrier and transaxle would not allow axle to come completely out of the transaxle. 20.000 miles on several Polaris models and never had any axle come out. **** most time they are a pain to pull out the first time just to apply anti seize due to the splines being exposed to the elements.

I thought when they came “out” the axle shaft came out of the cup🤷🏿‍♂️

Dean, I think the axle seals in the Trans are to keep stuff out, not lube in.
There are no 'axle seals'.
The spool runs side to side in the transmission and is sealed on both sides to keep stuff out and lubricant in.
The axles 'cv joint splines' go into a hole that is sealed on the inside to keep stuff out and lubricant in.
You can pull the cv joint out of the transmission and turn the General on its side and nothing will come out of the hole.
The turf mode differential is also sealed on the inside.

Thanks for the replies, I thought that when it was mentioned an axle popped out that it was referring to the inner CV coming out of the transaxle not the CV itself pulling apart. Also I agree the circlip does hold inner CV from pulling out to an extent, I would think the distance between transaxle and hub assembly would keep it in place barring some anomaly like bent/broken parts. I have taken every Polaris axle out of all my rides since 96 and applied anti seize and yes some did not want to come out due to corrosion even with very few miles. That being said I guess I can't see how an axle, Whether the CV itself or the splined shaft can come apart/pull out unless the suspension is radically over extended in which full droop is as far as it can go! And they don't come out. Maybe as pirate stated the actual shaft is too short. But I guess anything is possible as we all know.

You, when an axle pops out it commonly means the inner cv joint comes out of the transmission.
Yes the circlip is what holds the inner cv in and sometimes they come out without any other broken or bent parts. Like someone else pointed out above it usually happens on lifted or modified vehicles but not always.

Mine is completely stock. No suspension mods at all.
When I get the jack I ordered, should be a few days, I will get in there. I'm thinking a bit of disassembly is required for me to get my phone in there to take pics as it sits now.
Its a nice balmy 8 degrees so, I'm battling that too.
I'll figure out how to get the pics uploaded and post them on the other thread I started about this as soon as I can.
Thanks guys, to all of you for weighing in on this. I'll need all the help I can get.
