Speed Limiter??

Does anyone have any ideas or know of any products that would allow me to limit the speed of the General? I’d like to have a low speed option for use around the neighborhood. I’ve found that the machine is limited to about 17mph when the seat belt is off, but I’d prefer about ~25mph. I know Polaris makes these for the Ranger, but not sure if something similar is available for General. Or maybe the ‘seat belt’ restriction could be reprogrammed to a different speed? Anyway, open to any ideas and/or suggestions. Thanks.

Drive around the neighborhood with the trans in Low range and you'll find that more than 25 your pushing it a bit.

or you can have installed one of the"gear reduction" gear sets.

Pirate- thanks for the ideas. To be more specific about my goal... I am trying to find a way to lock-out higher speed operations for my teenage son. So the low gear idea works, but only if I could lock-out High.

Would a ‘gear reduction’ gear set impact both High and Low operating range?

If you can't trust your kid to drive below the speed you tell him to, how are you going to trust him with a car?

I would just put a GPS type set up in it that would record speed and send it to your phone. Break the rules, lose the privilege of driving it. At least that would give you an idea of how responsible he will be with a car... Unless you are planning on governing that too?

Well, I finally figured this one out. Ended up putting a switch in on the drivers seatbelt wiring harness to ‘trick’ the ECU into thinking the seatbelt is off, even when it’s fastened. Then the guys at Bikeman Performance did a custom tune for me that resets the factory speed limiter (with seatbelt on unfastened) from the stock 16MPH to 25MPH now. Works perfectly!!! Thanks to the guys at Bikeman. They also gave me the performance tune (which is awesome). Now when the kids are cruising the hood it’s slow and easy, but when I flip the switch, full power.

Fantastic! That sounds like a perfect solution for you.

Personally, i would just lift the seat out and unplug the saftey override then to trust my kid not to be able to find a simple switch when he wants to do something seriously stupid. Being a parent of 2 boys myself i've learned that kids are creative at figuring out ways around stuff when it comes to their destructive tendencies. Just remember, the longer and more complicated of a process it takes for you means the more the lil bastered has to figure out to do the same >:)>:)>:)
