XP 64" width? Yea right

So I brought my '23 xp4 with ZERO suspension mods out last night for a ride. I get to the gate an hour away. Here I see a sign that says "65 inch Maximum Width". Pfft no problem I have a 64" machine I thought. Nope not even close to making it through the choke point. Of course I didn't have a tape measure with me.

I get back home; measure the width and I'm reading 66" all day long.

So I'm confused, did Polaris measure the width with zero weight on the suspension, like literally hung the machine in the air and measured?

Has anyone else out there measured their machine? Curious what other people are reading for width.

One would think you could squeeze 66" through, if it is just 1/2" of tire sidewall on each side.

Most of the time, if you go through the narrow spot at an angle you can get through without scraping or getting stuck.
Or ratchet strap the A-Arms closer together. :)

Just measured my 2023 xp1000 sport, it’s width is 66 in at 14.0 ride height and recommended tire pressure, yup so much for the 64 inch width, will know more when I get to the local bridges and gates , got me thinking now

It's sad when 64" means 66". It should be criminal to misrepresent actual specs.
Yes, I see they are measuring at the face of the rims which is probably 64 lol

Thats exactly what they did. But if you look at total height, they included the tire height. Then when you go to the Polaris website and look at the diagram, Polaris has the image placed in such a way to make the width measurement visually ambiguous.

The width measurement doesn't pass the straight face test on paper or in real life.

Not gonna lie, I've been mulling this over for a few days trying to think what sort of recourse we have available as consumers.

What is the offset on a stock rim?

Wondering if it is a 5+2 and going to a 6+1 would get you the inch on each side you need?

Maybe but we paid for a 64" machine not a 66".

The last time I heard of someone trying to sue for sometime that had the wrong dimension was the people trying to sue Home Depot because a 2x4 was not 2”x4”….That didn’t work out for them….
I would be willing to bet that the weight is not correct either….Good luck….Just remember Polaris has a lot more money than you…

so are you gunna sue the tire company when your 33" tire measures 32 and change?

You two are the only ones talking about suing anyone, I'm a bit more diplomatic.

Stock = 6+1

No offense taken. I probably should have worded it differently.

I was trying to stir a few of us here to reach out to Polaris and talk with them. If enough people call maybe they will replace the wheels with a different offset, but I highly doubt it.
The width is a non-issue for the majority of people. It's the guys who live in the areas that are width restricted. I get what you guys are saying, they falsely advertised the width. However, your tire bulge is what's giving you extra width. If you set your pressure up to where Polaris suggests, there's less bulge. HeII just put the max pressure in 'em and see what your width is then.

Update: Yea that didn't work. Don't waste your time.

Paraphrasing the conversation:

ME: "My 64" wide machine measures 66". Here's my vin 123456789. How do you measure stance? Will Polaris swap the wheels out for a different offset?

POLARIS: "Stance is measured at full suspension droop. That is not something we can do, we are sorry for the inconvenience and frustration this has caused. Please contact your dealer."
