XP 64" width? Yea right

So I brought my '23 xp4 with ZERO suspension mods out last night for a ride. I get to the gate an hour away. Here I see a sign that says "65 inch Maximum Width". Pfft no problem I have a 64" machine I thought. Nope not even close to making it through the choke point. Of course I didn't have a tape measure with me.

I get back home; measure the width and I'm reading 66" all day long.

So I'm confused, did Polaris measure the width with zero weight on the suspension, like literally hung the machine in the air and measured?

Has anyone else out there measured their machine? Curious what other people are reading for width.

64" is from wheel face to wheel face, at the ride height specified by the factory.
The tire side walls will then add to that. How much, depends on the tire and amount of air in it.

This is good to know. Thank you for clarifying

Allot of machines come with the ride height not set correctly at the dealership. yours may be to low which obviously widens the machine

Also take in that tire bulge adds some width

I'd love to check. Does anyone have a factory spec on the front and rear ride height?

You should be at 13.5” to 14” ground clearance
Are the springs on the newer XP's similar to the dual rate spring kit from like Shock Therapy? On my 2019 Deluxe the upper spring is totally compressed.

It is supposed to be. Those upper springs are just meant to keep the springs in the pockets at full extension.

Thats fine, it’s similar to a DSR, but no cross over ring and lower spring rates, the top helper spring is only there to take up the space between the collar and divider because the main spring is too short at full shock extension, so it keeps the spring under tension.

Our 2020 had fit everywhere we’ve been in Maine so far…where we’re you at?
Perfect, Ill go measure in a bit. thank you.

Papermaker, This was at the hebron trail system.
I’m at 14” of GC.
Front and back?

With no weight on the machine, I'm 14" in the back and 15" in the front. based on the diagram the preload is set correctly.

Maybe I should just feed her the beans and send it.
In your area, the trail gate opening for a 65" max width vehicle, is actually how wide?

65"
Most of the time, if you go through the narrow spot at an angle you can get through without scraping or getting stuck. Give it a try.
