I have a Polaris fixed glass windshield that I love but am thinking about getting rid of it for some sort of folding or tip out windshield. after our recent trip to taylor park, it became very evident after riding almost everyday in the rain/sun/dust that some sort of a folding or flip down windshield would be better.

I like the Polaris tip out glass windshield but man its high and wonder how it will hold up to riding in rough conditions. I've also been looking at the polaris lexan tip out windshield or some sort of aftermarket folding windshield with little luck. I've found a couple but am not sure if they're worth the money and how much they'll rattle.

anyone have a good folding or tip out windshield suggestion?

We have had the Polaris Glass 3 position flip up windshield in our last 2 Generals. We like them a lot but they are expensive. Haven't had any problems with either of them and we rode in the Black Hills of SD a lot when we used to spend our summers there.

I have the Polaris fixed glass windshield. Been on the machine since I got it in May 2016.
If what you're looking for is air circulation through the cab. Get a couple of 12V fans and mount them where they move air from the center of the cab to the windows.
Sort of like these:
Light Grille Automotive lighting Gas Motor vehicle

I can provide more info if interested. But off to Christmas Dinner!

If you were closer I would trade you a SBCUSTOMS glass windshield 😁 . Love the fold up vents on it , just don't like how water tight ( or lack there of ) it is . Water comes in from the top and through the hinges . Going to be replaced with a Polaris L&R in the next few weeks .

I have had Polaris Tip out flip up windshields on my still 2013 Ranger XP 900 and 2 of them on my Polaris General and General XP. Have traveled mostly trails here in our Arizona Desert and mountains. Have had no problems with any of them. They seem to hold up well. You get what pay for. I buy only glass windshields. They don't scratch and get distorted.

The Polaris Tip Out windshield is great and I recommend it highly as long as your UTV doesn't wind up on its side because they are difficult to get repaired. I sent away for a new windshield after mine was destroyed in a crash. Received the wrong one plus I am finding out that most glass companies in my area of Arizona don't replace UTV windshields.
OBTW, love the Taylor Park area of Colorado.

Our flip windshield is crazy popular. Fully closed, fully open, or vented for airflow.
It me up for a little discount if you're interested.
Can a wiper be used on this windshield?

I would HIGHLY suggest no wiper on any poly windsheilds. If you must have one then a manual one is the only one I'd consider. No matter what any manufacturer says. I say manual only if needed because then you'll do less swipes than an electric one, that's less scratches. A poly windshield will scratch no matter what coating is on it. Also the manual wiper will be lighter than an electric one. You want less weight on the poly, but eventually the poly will likely crack around the mount hole for the wiper... IMO you're better off skipping poly and just drop the cash on glass. It's well worth the extra cost IMO...

I'll offer my thoughts on folding windshields. I have the Ryfab folding/vented windshield so most of my experience is with that. In the three years I have had it I think I have folded it down exactly once. Even when it is 90-100 degrees it seems as though the venting is all you need. I do use the vent a lot. Any vents and especially the way the Ryfab folds cuts down on visibility quite a bit. So if I had to do it again I would go with a glass windshield with good venting and as much open glass as possible. Just my thoughts.

FYI I do not have experience with the tip out windshields but seems like the latch and handle at the dash would be cumbersome? Others will comment I'm sure.

I very seldom used the tip-out option because of off-roading and the dust that you have coming in through the open doors is more than adequate for my needs.

I have had the glass tip out windshield with the wiper kit for my 2021 XP1000. Glass is the only way to go, anything else will scratch from dust. No problem with rough trails and brush while riding with it all the way open or tipped out, 4000 miles so far. Only thing had to replace one of the gas shocks and also the base lock pad. I switched to a aftermarket CNC cut nylon unit which is stronger than the plastic one that the comes with it. Original gas shocks can be purchased $18 each SUSP C16-02622. DJ RANCH

I have had the tip out glass windshield on my 2021 XP1000 for over 4000 miles of trails. Glass is the only way to go, any type of plastic will scratch from dust. Had to replace one of the gas shocks and also the base lock plate. The original base lock plate broke under cold weather conditions, so I replaced it with a Custom CNC nylon unit $38, much stronger and cold tolerant. Gas shocks run $18 each SUSPA C16-02622-W. I also have the Wiper Kit and Love it. In the summer run the windsheild all the way up, and have no problems with it running over 50mph down the road, bumpy rock trails.

We really recommend against it. Even though that hardcoating is super tough, wiping dirt and grit against it will eventually scratch it. I know tons of guys that do it anyway though. I keep a pump sprayer at the truck and just hit it when needed. Dish soap and that sprayer go a long way.
