Share what you did today with the Polaris General community!

Example: I took her out for a ride this weekend on the trails and ended up scoring a nice sized deer!

Example: Installed the lexan windshield and LED light bar.

Example: The new wheels and tires came in finally!

Anything goes.... :wink2:

The Milwaukee is good to torque fasteners to 450 ft-lbs and loosen 600 ft-lbs.

You can buy/rent 600ft-lb torque wrenches. I provided them to the turbine overhaul crews. Tightening 3" to 6" bolts or studs, torque them to 600 ft-lbs and tap with a steel hammer. If it rings,
its "Metal Tight". After that we would use "turn of the flat" to calculate the necessary stretch. All the fasteners were 8 threads per inch.

The 600 ft-lb torque wrenches were probably 60" long. For loosening the 6" studs, we had a 2 1/2" drive pneumatic impact. Took four guys to hold on to that thing. hanging from the overhead crane. Those were big machines the High Pressure outer shell was 70 tons.
Applying a little heat to the threaded part also helps tighten quickly.

Want excellent results for getting fasteners loose...get a Milwaukee 18V red 1/2" impact. It will loosen a fastener tightened to 650 ft-lbs.
I've yet to find a bolt it won't loosen.
Not sure which model you have? Maybe there are smaller ones? But 650ft/lbs is nothing for an M18 1/2" impact.

Every one of them that I have are rated well over 1,000ft/lbs on loosening. We use them day in day out for busting rusted flange bolts and they are HD.
Cool, I've got the M18 1/2".
I've had only one nut it wouldn't get loose. The axle nut on a Turner Cycles Nitro axle on the back end of my General.
Finally had to use a burr to cut through the nut to get it off. But that's the only one.

Pulling my primary apart. Clutch is hanging up keeping the belt engaged when trying to stop.
A real sign of the Primary clutch bearing failing.

Just another DIY ceiling and LED light hookup and firewall covered with carpet.
All this possible with the help and assistance from TaterTots and others who have done the same. I was a bit concerned about rattles seeing its plywood but the carpet folded around the backside helps cushion the contact points. I need to paint the bolts black and I'm done. I really like the outcome.

Excellent work. What did it do for noise reduction

I'd say marginal. It certainly toned down the engine noise to a certain degree. The roof also helps with the insulation and carpet as that absorbs noises coming from the Poly roof.

Looks good. Nice job!
How you make out?
Spider nut backed off, and had a flat spot on a weight roller. Ordered a new primary, and I’ll fix the stock one for a spare.

Going to run a Gboost on the new clutch, and save the HW belt with 700 miles on it as a spare. It has been working pretty good.

I went g boost too. It seems to have a nicer engagement than stock. But I've only got maybe 10 miles on it...

It was a good day yesterday to some extent. I installed the UTV Inc. Fan Override Kit in my General. Worked right off the bat.
BUT I wanted to remove the driver's side tire to get better access to the fan wires. Doing so I broke a 18 inch breaker rachet at the collar, and a 3/8" Craftsman torque wrench at the 3/8" square for the socket. And a third 3/8" Craftsman torque wrench just would not adjust or it would slip constantly. It seems the gorilla at the factory installed the wheel lugs at about 200 FP. I got the tire off with a regular ratche and a 24" pipe on it.
Time for a new torque wrench.
To continue this saga, we pulled the remaining lug nuts off and reset them to 120 FP. But before we pulled them off we tested the torque on each one with a 1/2" torque wrench and most were set to exceed 150 FP. I think I hate gorillas!
And to think, there are guys that can torque to 150 ft-lbs with one hand on a 3/8" ratchet.
I know two of those guys.
