What did you do to your Polaris General today?

Share what you did today with the Polaris General community!

Example: I took her out for a ride this weekend on the trails and ended up scoring a nice sized deer!

Example: Installed the lexan windshield and LED light bar.

Example: The new wheels and tires came in finally!

Anything goes.... :wink2:

@Papermaker

Looks like you have a bent A Arm on that one pic possibly or just the camera angle?
Not that im aware....what did you see?
Have a buddy coming over to help me do a deep clean to get it ready to sell. We are going to take all the plastic off, or at least most of it and hopefully make it look like it did the day I brought it home.

So a sad day, but looking forward to the next chapter (2024 RZR XP).

On your post 2739 with the pic of your dog in it, your right tire seems to be leaning, bent a-arm, bad bearing, or angle of pic?

I changed the front gearcase demand drive lube, the transmission AGL oil, engine oil and filter. The oil filter wasn't difficult to change using this filter wrench:

It was a good day yesterday to some extent. I installed the UTV Inc. Fan Override Kit in my General. Worked right off the bat.
BUT I wanted to remove the driver's side tire to get better access to the fan wires. Doing so I broke a 18 inch breaker rachet at the collar, and a 3/8" Craftsman torque wrench at the 3/8" square for the socket. And a third 3/8" Craftsman torque wrench just would not adjust or it would slip constantly. It seems the gorilla at the factory installed the wheel lugs at about 200 FP. I got the tire off with a regular ratche and a 24" pipe on it.
Time for a new torque wrench.

Must be the same gorilla that tightens the oil filters 🦍

Never ever use a Torque wrench for loosening, unless it is made to torque in both directions.
Was told this when I was a young Lad, many many years ago.

The GearWrench torque wrench is a good one.
Replaced my old one from 1983.

Want excellent results for getting fasteners loose...get a Milwaukee 18V red 1/2" impact. It will loosen a fastener tightened to 650 ft-lbs.
I've yet to find a bolt it won't loosen.

That impact is about 10x overkill for anything on the general. Get the 3/8" version. It's smaller and will fit into a ton of places. Plus it'll still break the "gorilla" tightening abilities of the factory work...

Just an FYI...

I managed to blow a belt a few days ago. Got 1330 miles out of an OEM belt. A good chunk of that was hard pulling of my 6' digger for food plots. I ended up replacing the blown belt with a "world's best belt". So far I'm happy with the difference in take off (smoother) than stock. I also installed the B's fab front tow loop today

Installed a B's front tow loop. Not sure I'm good with the "nut plate" that is stock on the machine it really only grabs 2 threads on each bolt. I may fab up a thicker one since it's a attachment point when it's being trailered.
Blew out the clutches, I was mostly curious about how the Dalton kit was doing and if it had solved the belt slap issue. I'm really happy with the way it's tuned now.
Added more gear to the travel box, still need a fire extinguisher but we're getting there

I'm currently trying to figure out a way to mount the Garmin Mini to some point inside the cab. It needs to be reachable for both people and stay put if we end up on the lid for some reason.

I suppose the 1/2" drive. Milwaukee impact could be overkill. But it has four settings.
I have a Dewalt 20V 1/4" impact.
The Milwaukee is only used for taking things apart.
Oh, but I have a 120 ft-lbs torque stick for lug nuts. Use Milwaukee on the first setting to bring them all to about 70 ft-lbs. Then the torque stick to bring them to 120 ft-lbs.

The big Milwaukee is very handy on my four pieces of heavy equipment and the 7 attachments.
It was just a suggestion.

Try torqueing the kingpins on a '78 Ford Dana 60 front axle. 7/8" hex (Allen) wrench @ 600 Ft-Lbs.
Need a cheater bar for that sucker.

Indeed, used a piece of 8' long fire pipe and a come-along to remove the old ones and install the new.
