Durhamtown Plantation was where this went down last week between a Polaris General 1000 (owned by ATV.com writer Rick Sosebee), RZR 900, High Lifter Edition Polaris Ranger, and an ACE 900.

First up to take on this muddy drag strip is the General and his friend’s Polaris RZR 900. While his competitor was in 2WD, Rick put the General in 4WD for more traction in the three-inch layer of tacky mud. Unsurprisingly, the General took off like a rocket and won the first round.

Still confident, he sidled up to the next competitor, a High Lifter Edition Polaris Ranger that was sporting a set of huge Outlaw2 tires. While it is an improved version of the Outlaw, the tires were still no match for the slick mud and the General. Rick bagged another victory and made his way to the start point.

Finally, it’s just between him and the Polaris ACE 900 and he’s feeling a bit worried because his competitor is light and powerful for its size with a 4-Stroke DOHC Twin Cylinder engine and a displacement of 875cc. Sure the General has a high displacement at 999cc but if the ACE 900 manages to get any traction, he could potentially lose.

His best bet was an amazing launch so he gave the General a bit of gas to get the rpm as high as possible without moving. Once the go signal was given the gas pedal was floored and the brakes were all but forgotten. The Polaris General ultimately won the third race too but just barely.

All in all, a great drag racing day for Rick and a great read for the rest of us.

So, the RZR with 75 hp with a passenger and in 2wd? That was a real challenge.
The Rangers have 68 hp so two more real contenders.
The ACE has 60 hp, very under rated hp I think, so you better watch out for those little suckers because they are quick.
But anyway it is entertainment.
But when you race unmatched vehicles you need to use brackets to even it out.
