New General (Possibly)

Although I do not have confirmation on this at this time.
It appears that Polaris has created a separate model category for the General.
I’m trying to decipher the code at this time.
Any way, we have a new model coming, with its own catagory called Gen,
with model G22G.
It’s not listed as for the military.
It has:
Ride Command
Doors
Mirrors
Bed Rack
Roof
Center Console.

A lot of speculation has been going around.
The General needs a face lift. Has been the same body style since 2016.
Unfortunately a lot of General owners will probably be upset due to making our units look dated.
No matter what you Buy things evolve, in design and technology.

This is not a drawing or some patent rendering.
This is coming direct from Polaris.
I am unsure what this unit actually is at this time, but as long as I have been doing this, I usually get pretty close.
It is being built.

I work for a Polaris Dealer. I will ask the Head sales manager he should know.
He goes to all the Polaris training, meetings, shows, across USA AND CANADA.

Not really. Where I ride, I have plenty of power. It's supposed to be a sport/ute... Turbo is good for some areas of riding, but who's trying to do yard work and some light trail riding with a turbo?

Me, obviously. I want to haul firewood at 80 through the sand.

As I noted in your other post, G22G did refer to the model year 22.

It's common knowledge that G22G is used as a part of a number of components as well as vehicle models for that model year.

Coincidentally, the Trailhead edition from 2022 came with all the features you had listed including the bed rack.
The RZR was introduced and sold as a Ranger model for the first few years, Ranger RZR, then got it's own category after it got popular.
The present General is in the same category as the Ranger like the RZR was.
This could be just a category change.

First year the RZR was Called Ranger RZR 800 EFI in 2008.
I believe in 2010 the RZR 800 dropped the Ranger title on the RZR.

Ranger , Rzr, General all have diffrent catagories.
to Polaris the General is closer to a RZR then a Ranger.
Ranger is in its own class and the General has never been affiliated as a Ranger General or RZR General.
When I bought My General I remember there where perks if I would have had purchased a Ranger any model.
and RZR/Generals where not applicable due to being considered a sport UTV/SXS where as the Ranger was a work horse.

The General has a vary similar frame to the RZR trail S,900,1000.
If you put the General and RZR beside each other you can tell they are loosely Based off each other.
And that is why alot of parts cross with the General and RZR.

I thought the General XP was based off the Turbo S frame?

You are correct.
As I kept looking at this, It finally dawned on me what it was.

So now I am waiting to see what fills the GEN category.
Polaris in the past has released parts diagrams that were fake/generic in nature before the actual release of the unit.
Similar to what they are doing now.

The General/Ranger parts fiche grouping was what I was referring to above.
Should have made myself more clear.

Correct. The General is basically a rebodied RZR S. (not turbo S)

What I am curious about is the RZR line, and the new Xp for 2024. From the few videos I have seen and ride tests, it seems to stray away from the previous design. It is very rugged, stronger cage, bigger bed and more upright seats. Almost to the point of possibly a hybrid Rzr/General. But a four door version could be a great machine.

Polaris will need to be careful how many iterations of SXS they come along with, it may start confusing the consumer.

I see the new RZR XP as a revised refined updated version of the previous ones with the emphasis on having to compete with the KRX. Yes the KRX is larger but it doesn't have a turbo so it competes as much with the XP RZR for sales as it does with the turbo RZR's.
New updated much smoother ride and better shock damping overall, more comfort, more storage room, lower gearing, etc.
It is more rugged than the previous one but not what I would call very rugged in the drivetrain. Nothing like the RS1 which is what I was hoping for.
