Welcome to the forum! It's more of a personal preference. I think kick outs are better because it sticks out a bit farther than a set of low profile rock sliders would. That's extra distance between the body and rocks.
I am waiting on a deluxe General but I ordered the kick out ones for mine as I think they will give a little more body protection when in tight amongst trees and stumps.
The only concern anyone really has about the extra width is if it'll stop you from squeezing into tight spaces but when's the last time anyone saw a tiny niche between two rocks and went for it?
