Glacier® 6" Plow Extensions
Item #: 2889328

Any reason I can't find a single pic or video of these on a General? Polaris site seems to indicate they are for a ranger. Don't even show up when filtering for General compatible parts.

I can't think of any reason they would not work with my General/Polaris 72" steel glacier blade.

Thanks. Looks a little odd but as long as it's functional that's all that matters. I was thinking of also adding a deflector which should help it look less unusual. I'm surprised they don't make General-specific versions.

The extensions are heavy. There's likely no demand for extensions on the General. I had a 66" blade already when I upgraded to the XP. 66 wouldn't cover the machine's tracks when tilted. I didn't want to spend the money on a new blade. I went down the rabbit hole of all the Polaris plow accessories. The Ranger models are much heavier built. So the HD Pro plow system and accessories are much heavier built. I want to build a filler for the top between extensions. I also want to put a flap on.

I didn't realize it was the 66" blade you started with. I have the 72" blade so I get by ok. My drive/road is just a little too wide to clear in one pass each way so i was considering the extensions to bring me up to 84".

I'm not sure if you always get fluffy snow in your area?

But 84" wide is gonna be tough going if the snow is more than a few inches deep. I struggle with my 72" blade and 4-6" deep of wet heavy stuff. It's even worse trying to keep the blade angled to the passenger side since I have the electric turn. That ram doesnt hold much pressure at all....

Just something to think about when making that 72" plow wider...

Good points. Thanks. I have nothing electric/hydraulic, but I take your point on wet/heavy snow. It's usually pretty fluffy here in MW Montana but anythings possible. Definitely get my share of heavy and wet snowfalls to the point I'd want to stay optimized for them. I do push the 72" blade to the limit when widening or building piles. Plus I have a couple steepish slopes and tighter spots (in the woods/mountainside) Not to mention there's 4" solid ice base right now so I'm on chains all year. More weight behind a bigger blade would add to the challenge with limited returns. Cons outweigh the pros for my property I think.

Think still with the 72" I have 😁

NW Montana......
I think I would save the UTV for summer time and use a truck mounted plow and/or a tractor with a rear blade, front plow, or even a snowblower.
Pros and cons to it all. Lots of folks plow with UTVs ok on the mountain here. I was just looking at options to clear more in one pass.
I'd need about triple the land to justify a tractor on my property. Truck would be too challenging since I don't have a lot of turning room. UTV is great to get in the tight spots after I've cleared the main circular drive.

Yes, lots to ponder, but it sounds like you have thought it through for your location. I guess I just love my Kubota tractor way more than the SxS (heck if it would fit through the door, I would bring it in the house). Good luck and happy riding/plowing.

I sure do look across at my neighbors Kubota with envy occasionally. Once I recover from the financial shock of this move I'll start to seriously consider adding some toys. Snowmobile and dirt bike are next. Then perhaps the big orange Kubota dealer I drive by daily :)

I have the 72 inch with the track extensions. Usually plow Utah snow with the G2 and tires plus or minus chains. The track extensions helps the blade angle issue from running with 30 inch tires, but it is longer. If the snow is really heavy or deep, i move the plow onto the G4 that has tracks. That plows and stacks snow amazing.
