Check the connectivity, how are you connecting it. As the only difference is either they cable, BT or WiFi. What do you want to do with the camera connected to Ride Command? Backup camera? Otherwise, there is no real purpose to doing it.
Want to use Ride Cammand screen to see what cam sees and to manually take pics as I travel along trails. I plan on mounting the cam on top of roof looking ahead, I beleive this can be done with Ride Command.Check the connectivity, how are you connecting it. So I am assuming you have a 2018? as that should have been the only year for the General with Ride command that was not the 7 button. If you have updated your software, that GoPro app may have gone away, I don't see it on my seven button. But then again, I shoot with the GoPro and use my phone as the remote (bluetooth) or do screen grabs from rolling video. being able to start and stop the camera would be cool.Want to use Ride Cammand screen to see what cam sees and to manually take pics as I travel along trails. I have a 2017 model with 5 button Ride Command. So I am assuming you have a 2018? as that should have been the only year for the General with Ride command that was not the 7 button. Since this video shows the GoPro app, I am assuming you connect it through the USB port or Bluetooth. Since all GoPro have both, this should not be an issue with any model. I would say borrow one and try. As GoPro has not changed the remoe capabilities in how they communicate. I have owned 3, 4, 8 and GoProMax that all share apps and remotes.
Thanks for your replies, Biffdotorg.According to the five button Ride Command manual, it came out when GoPro Hero 4 was supported and it connected over WiFi. And even then, it said, it will work with a five, but you choose Hero 4 when connecting. That tells me it may work with any Gopro over WiFi, just like the Hero WiFi remote. But you choose 4 in the menu.
I would also assume that if you update the RC software, GoPro use may go away. It's too bad it didn't support USB, as that way you could wire the GoPro up for power as well as turn it on/off.
