Sorry but dont think it was made for the dunes not that you cant do it. Nice write up but some of the things you say dont have anything to do with the forest timber trail rider thats I think it was made for in my mind, your comparing it with dune riding with RZRs and XPs. Nice to see the General for us that can be used for forest riding and work chores with lots of power, finally. I'll leave the fast dunes to the RZR XPs.

Article is written by Jon Crowley - not Paul H and dune riding is far out of my reach here in Canada.

There's no doubt in my mind that the General was not built as a sandrail, however as a car guy and an enthusiast of just about anything with a motor, I did enjoy reading the article.

There's minimal reviews of these Generals online, so I thought I would share an article for those interested in getting a little more SxS Porn!!

Exactly! nice to see its capabilities even though a guy like me will never ride in a sand dune.

keep up the SXS porn Paul H, yours will get here just a mater of time. Alaskan you are not missing anything, riding in the sand is over rated (this is my opinion).

Years back a old timer up here was clipping along having a good ride on a nice day on an ATV, came around a corner in the trail and slammed into the side of a Kodiak brown bear. As scary or frightening as that may sound it was safer than going balls out at Glamis catching air and crashing or hitting another rider. That bear he said was as startled as he was and jokes that the bear is probably still running! I chuckle every time I think about that story.

I do have it on my bucket list to ride the General at the Silver Lake dunes state park on Lake Michigan. I rented my first RZR it was a 800 It was $275 for about 2 hours you followed the guide and they said they would go as fast as the slowest rider. There were 3 carts all drivers all the drivers had experience it was a good ride. We got back and I had my credit card out to go rite back out but they were booked. We bought are 570 the next year.

Sand General

Great write up... The GENERAL has proven itself that it can pull its weight in the sand dunes and has a lot of other capabilities possible. Can't wait to buy mine!! Machine good for all chores around my ranch and can go stretch its legs in the dunes on occasion. Thanks for sharing.

My thoughts exactly Catahoula12. Have only had mine for a week,,,,
I will use my around the property doing some chores, trail ride the **** out of it on weekends and probably take it on our annual dune trip as well. I had taken my Rhino to Oregon a few times but there was not a lot of power on tap for climbing any dunes. The General will rip up most all hills in Winchester Bay.

No worries. I wasn't trying to be a dick. I think this waiting game has just made me irritable and moody......at least that's what the wife says!!

That will change today. :wink2:

looking forward to what more you have to share of it since publications seem to be lacking in feedback as per usual :D

Thanks for posting my dune review for the General. I completely understand that the General is not designed for the dunes. But I like to push to see what else you can do with vehicles. The good news is the General is plenty capable of handling the dunes. Not the most ideal vehicle, but tons of fun and it has a bed.

My review from the General press intro is also at: Polaris GENERAL 1000 EPS Review | UTV Guide
