Ok, was hunting up north in Minnesota this past weekend, and driving slow. About 5 to 10 mph. That brake pad rattle that I have read about here raised it’s ugly head. Anyway got home and picked up 4 Hillman springs and a new set of (flippen’ expensive!) pads and took care of the noisy drivers side first. Follow all instructions found here. But when re-installing the set screw for the one post, I tightened it down all the way. Took it out for a short test drive. Noise was gone, but it was giving off much more heat than the passenger side. IR gun said drivers side was 180 degrees, and passenger side was 85! So I proceeded to do the passenger side, and took note how many turns it took to remove set screw. About 2 full turns. so, installed the springs in the caliper and only put the set screw back in that two full turns. Blue loc tite of course! Removed the drivers side set screw, and only put that in 2 turns also. Now everything is running at the temp like before, and both sides read around 90 degrees. I was worried about that heat doing damage to the seals, bearings, and the fluid itself, even though Dot 4 fluid should be able to handle anything less than 200 degrees. Anyway, long story short, don’t tighten that set screw all the way!
