looks like there is no room in the Polaris stable for the General.
dealerships are told that 2023 is that last year of the General, can not order one anymore.
With the General doing so well in sales since the release thought they would keep the General and just add a new unit.
Prices on the new Xpedition will be alot more then the Generals, So expect to drop some serious cash.
Alot of cool features on the new Xpedition I noticed, A/c, 5-bolt pattern hubs, gear driven trans, New designed motor,
glass windows. plus alot more. debating on ordering one. will wait until our dealership gets one in.

Buy up the market. They are going to be the value of DZ 302
. :)
They will have to come out with a non-XP version. But first they want to sell all the high-dollar machines they can to the early adopters.

No different that new models of pickups. They will let you order a base model, but the dealers all fill their lots with Lariat's and Denali's.

They did the same thing with the General. You could only get Deluxe, and Premium for the first few months. Seem to take forever for the base model to come out. I had to have a red one.

I'm not so sure about that. I haven't heard anything about the Gen being discontinued. Its a solid competitor in the sport/utility market and its a good price point. The Xpedition is a whole different category. Awesome, yes.......but at a way different price point. And we've all seen how Polaris loves having entries at different price points.

They may put it into the "inactive" category with the RS1 and RZR 570 while running the Xpeditions down that same production line, but I doubt it'll be totally discontinued. Its too popular and a true sport/utility model.

There is $11,500 difference between the list prices of the Base General and the Base Xpedition.
Look at all the sales that will be lost in that gap if they discontinue the General. Lots of people won't pay the difference to get the Xpedition.
Base General XP to Xpedition XP is $4500.
I don't really see them dropping the General until sales drop tremendously.
JMHO
While the xpedition is a nice machine, I would have hoped for 50K it would NOT have a belt. Will Polaris ever make anything other than a CVT?

Why would they? 95% of the market is CVT. Unless you go to a Honda or a Kubota/Bobcat chances are you have a CVT machine. There has to be a weak link somewhere and personally, I'm cool with it being a $200 belt.... That said my stock belt has 4k miles on it

Anyone know if they got rid of the cheesy reverse chain in the Expedition?

Polaris dealerships can not order you one in anymore.

Maybe just in Canada? I didn't call my dealership to try to order one, but the US website still lets you build your own.

I would call your Dealer.
They will Tell you the General for 2024 is not available.
I really think the General should be and make this a Ranger xpedition model.
These manufacturers are getting to a point where they are pricing the hard working man out of the market.
I have a well paying job but I have worked many years to get to this point in my life, younger guys and gals just getting started making 50K or 60K are not going to be able to afford these new machines. When sales start to drop because the prices are too High then maybe they will change things but I doubt it. There are only so many of us older folks that have enough money to purchase these new side by sides . I know people will shell out there money for a 30K to 45K machine but not this guy….

Agreed 100%
I called my dealer. My salesman said one of the first questions he had after the release was wether Polaris was going to discontinue the General. He was told no. They are still able to order them. He feels that they will continue the General till sales drop.

That's what old Jeep Cherokee XJ's are for.

This is EXACTLY why you take "insider info" from a dealer with a grain of salt. They want to sell you a new machine. Lets start telling people they are no longer going to be available.
