Early Look at the Textron Havoc + Video

What we know about the future Polaris General challenger

If you were worried that the newly formed Textron Off Road was going to play it safe in the ATV/UTV industry, it’s looking more and more like those fears are unfounded. Textron Off Road appears to have big plans – especially when it comes to UTVs. Case in point is the upcoming Textron Havoc.

The Textron Havoc is aimed squarely at the Polaris General. While there are other Sport-Utility crossover machines out there like the Yamaha Wolverine and Kawasaki Teryx, the Havoc is looking to one-up the General in the power department. While there are rumors out there with claims of 110+ or even 120 horsepower, we asked Textron and all they would tell us is that the Havoc will produce more than 100 horsepower.

Bold move squaring up against Polaris.

Do you think they bit off more than they can chew?

With comp like this coming we can hope Polaris will step up on Quality! With that then I would think no problems. but the way things are now maybe Polaris has to be worried.

Not a bad looking machine, and I like the extended cab design. More storage is always a plus, but looks like they gave up some possible storage space with the way the hood is made.

It's cool, but I didn't see the advantage over the General Deluxe. Maybe more to come. 10 extra HP, not a big deal to me. Maybe better suspension? Better quality would be my only wish.

I will wait to make a judgement until they have been out a while. But it is intriguing.

For the riding we do 100 hp is enough. I'm looking for good accessory integration (Pro-Fit cage is spectacular but Polaris dropped the ball on the fitment of some parts), 12"+ of suspension travel (who doesn't love a cushy ride), and good initial quality for the price-point (hellooooo...Polaris...anybody there?).*

Arctic Cat has never even been on my radar because they seemed to have limited dealer support in my area. I'm with Alaskan on this though, I'll definitely give it a good lookover when it hits the dealer floor.

*Hyundai cranks out Accents every day. They come with a 5 year 60k mile initial warranty, 7 year unlimited mile perforation and 10 year 100k limited powertrain warranty. Ten...freaking...years!!! Not 6 months.

It comes stock with radio, heat, a/c, power windows, doors (4), front and rear windows, multi-speed wipers, 137 hp, roof, headliner, turn signals, mirrors, bumpers etc, etc, etc. Did I mention it's priced at $5,000 LESS than a General Deluxe 2 seater that only comes with 3 of the above (1 bumper, roof and radio)? Maybe Dirt Every Day should buy one, drop $5k on a winch, suspension and tires and see how it stands up to a day on the trails.

The General is what the Rhino should've become.

How wide is that Havoc 64 in. ? It's going to have to be very nimble to turn like General does in the tight woods, I'd like to know what the dimensions are of it also
but should be fun to see how it shakes out and get Polaris to clean up there act.

I bet they don't have noisy front diffs...

It'll be interesting to see how they hold up, they can't possibly be lower quality. Polaris pretty much has everyone beat in that department.
